Josh is an entrepreneur and General Counsel with 25 years of experience, including as a former public company General Counsel in the aerospace and defense industries. He currently acts as a Co-Founder and General Counsel of OffWorld, Inc., a venture backed company that is developing a robotic workforce for heavy industrial jobs on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and asteroids and is a world leader in novel autonomous technologies for terrestrial mining. Izenberg is also a Co-Founder and General Counsel of Woodford Resources, LLC, a private equity fund investing in rare earth elements.
In addition to his roles at OffWorld and Woodford, Josh runs a diverse legal practice in Washington, DC, with clients based in the United States and Europe. Josh is Chair of the Board of Directors at the Challenger Center for Space Science Education in Washington, DC, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation. He is a member of the Board of Advisors of CisLunar Industries, which aims to develop the Space Foundry that will recycle and refine metal space debris into raw materials for use in space. He also holds a board seat at D+R International, an environmental consulting firm dedicated to helping corporate & government clients with energy efficiency.
Prior to his current roles, Izenberg was General Counsel of the aerospace and defense businesses at ATK, a Fortune 500 provider of aerospace, defense, and sporting products. Before ATK, Josh was General Counsel at Versar, and Deputy General Counsel at Alion Science and Technology. Josh started his legal career at Baker McKenzie LLP, the largest international law firm in the world.
Josh received an MBA with honors from Georgetown University, from which he graduated second in his class. He holds a law degree from the University of Toronto, and a B.Sc. in Computer Science with Great Distinction from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Josh is also a graduate of the International Space University’s Space Studies Program. Josh was a delegate to the Space Generation Forum at UNISPACE III in Vienna, Austria, and is a founding member of the Space Generation Advisory Council.
