Previously, William served as a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES) in several senior financial management roles within the Department of Defense to include the following:
Assistant Deputy Commandant for Program and Resources (Resources), Headquarters Marine Corps, Pentagon. He served as the Senior Resource Advisor to the Deputy Commandant for Programs and Resources (DC P&R). Provided oversight for policies and procedures necessary for effective internal control of all financial operations, to include the Marine Corps full financial statement audit, and planning and direction for the Marine Corps financial management systems.
Chief Financial Officer for the Army National Guard, Arlington, Virginia. He served as the primary advisor to the Director, Army National Guard on all fiscal matters and is responsible for all ARNG programming, budgeting, and execution of more than $16 billion in resources annually. Additionally, Mr. Roberts oversaw more than 3,000 financial professionals in the 54 States, territories and the District of Columbia.
Director of Accountability and Audit Readiness, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army, Financial Management and Comptroller. In this capacity, he was responsible for integration of Army policies, programs, systems, and procedures designed to develop, improve and maintain the Army’s financial accountability, ability to produce auditable financial statements and internal management control programs.
William holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Hampton University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University. He has received numerous civilian awards throughout his career. He is also an active member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) and the Association of Government Accountants (AGA).
He currently resides in Laurel, Maryland with his wife and his 2 daughters. He is an avid supporter of Baltimore Sports, Ravens and Orioles.
